Brendan: A sketch image for a pitch I concocted for DC Comics:
DELINQUENT JIMMY OLSEN was an idea for a three part miniseries that I planned to write and draw.
The Reverse-Flash, Professor Zoom, attempts to reverse-engineer a Bizarro back to human form, but instead unleashes a terrible reverse-Bizarro plague. Superman is imprisoned in a purple-kryptonite cage. As society crumbles, Superman's pal, Jimmy Olsen, finds that he and a few others are immune to the contagion. They are outlaws in a lawless, bizarro world. It is up to these delinquents to save our lives.

They didn't go for it, but I think it would have made a good comic miniseries. Saturn Girl was in it too. And a new character, Dr. Zyxtiplytk, appears as well. Something a bit different...

this is exactly why i read comics. well the idea, not the staid complacency of dc comics....
seriously, that this comic does not exist will easily make my day far more morose than it has any business being.
Wow. If only. I'm really bummed from the lack of this comic too. I would buy two copies, just based on the plot alone.

These mad ideas languish in the hell of the unmade yet D.C(who like to think they are at the forefront of out there material)pile out more of the same old eyepiss each week than is feasible!

I'm glad they chose not to make this comic. The idea is really stupid if you think about it. Also, how can someone be an outlaw in a lawless world? There is no law to rebel against. He's more of an outlawless.
The person who turned this down was being an idiot.
Shit. You should do this anyway man, using thinly veiled analogues. Like, Jerry Orson or something.
sounds like when they turned down Seth Fisher's 'Danny The Chair grows up and becomes Danny The Street' pitch.
I'd vote for Bizarro Paul Levitz for president, that's for sure (or is that not sure?)
